We’ve owned the cottage in rural western Ireland for ten years now. We call it a cottage because of it’s quaint demeanor. But it’s really a four bedroom house. Recently, within the astonishing horrors of this current administration and toxic political climate, many have wondered if we plan to move there. Others have suggested that living there could be part of their escape plan. 

I totally understand. Ireland. The land, the people, and the culture, are salve for the soul. And right now our souls need a healing salve. Although the idea of moving there has crossed our minds, it’s been only a fleeting consideration. And the answer is always a clear ‘no’. I appreciate and honor others who have made the move. It’s not a judgement. It’s just our choice.

Yes. We live in treacherous times. And in these times, we are called to deeply consider who we are. As a people. As a nation. And from that consideration there is clearly a shift happening. There is a shift, a recalibration, as people claim and manifest their values of compassion, justice, love, and peace. The energy is palpable.

We are in the fires of deconstruction and transformation. And perhaps this nation as we have known it will burn to the ground. Yet there is already a phoenix stirring in those flames even before they become ashes. A phoenix of possibility and promise. A phoenix grounded in humanitarian values. A phoenix ready to take flight. A phoenix of recalibration. 

The phoenix is a mythic creature. These are mythic times. We are called to be mythic. To hold fast our values and principles. I choose to stay right here and give my energy, my prayers, and my voice to this rising recalibration.

Together we can do this. Together we got this.
