The purpose of stories is not escape.
The purpose of stories is waking up.

A Call To Crone: Weaving Wisdom With Threads Of Irish Heritage

Elder. There is great power here. If we are willing to claim it. The decades accumulate and we become older but whether we also become Elder is less a matter of age than attitude. For we have the power to create the story of ourselves as Elder wise women…as Crone.

In Irish myth, legend, history, heritage, and mystical landscapes there are powerful threads for weaving wisdom. A Call To Crone offers some of those threads for creating an image of your Elder experience and weaving your Elder story.

Book interview:
Well, perhaps more a general conversation. But the impetus was the book. A wonderful podcast with Anthony Murphy. Here is the link: Podcast with Anthony Murphy

What people are saying about A Call To Crone:

Just to say how much I’m appreciating your book! I’ve been holding it and looking at the pictures and reading snippets here and there. It feels sooo good – in hand and heart. Thank you for listening to the depths and offering out this treasure.  JM

I was delighted to ride on the wave of words to the last page. Brilliant. Beautiful.  AS

Just finished your book. It was educational, awe inspiring and took me through such a journey, I felt I was transported back in time and slowly transported forward. Very deeply touched and deeply gifted by your stories that weave the land and people, including me, into the magic that is Ireland.  JT

It was all I could do to not stay up all night last night reading your book.  I want to take it slow, and savour it, but that will likely be the second reading!  I know I will sit down this afternoon and just get lost in it.  MR

A Legacy Of Wisdom: The Genius, Power, and Possibility
of Ireland’s IndigenousSpiritual Heritage.

We search for spiritual grounding. We seek wisdom to create meaning in our lives, to nurture our souls, and to guide us to the wholeness, power, and potential of who we are as sacred people. In our quest, many paths open before us. For those of us with Irish ancestry, we often long for the resonance of a wisdom tradition that is uniquely and authentically ours. This book is an exploration of that wisdom tradition.

Book Interview. I was interviewed about this book by Thomas Sheridan in Sligo. Here is the link: Thomas Sheridan Judith Nilan interview

What people are saying about A Legacy Of Wisdom:

Judith’s book illustrates her deep understanding of the unique importance of the ancient Irish spiritual tradition.

Just finished your new book. I love how fluid it is. I love the anecdotes, especially since I recognize some of them from your tour tales. The new book sings in my soul and makes me feel peacefully connected to Ireland. Loved it so much and I thank you for your many gifts. Always!!

Landscape, nature, cosmos, community and natural order sing from the pages of this book. It will be an important guide for people who wish to re-establish a sacred connection with the sídhe, and for those of us who are already on that path, this is a wonderful affirmation, brimming with love and positivity, a real antidote for the enfolding drudgery and depression of our times . . . an ode to joy for a wayward people, cut off from their true Dé Danann heritage. A light of hope.

Well what can I say. Absolutely loving reading your book – slowly! It is a book I enjoy going back to, dipping into every now and again, when I feel I’m ready for a journey, into the past that is (Ancient Ireland). To say it is informative is an understatement, spirituality personified by yourself. I don’t think I will ever ‘finish’ it, nor do I think I will ever want to.  JM

  1. You’re so cool! I do not believe I’ve truly read something like that before.
So wonderful to discover someone with genuine thoughts
on this subject matter. Really.. thank you for starting this up.
This website is one thing that is required
on the internet, someone with some originality!

  2. A friend sent me your interview and I searched the internet until I found you. I very much connect to and like what I’ve heard, so far. I’ll be purchasing the book soon. Thanks!

    • Hey there. Wow. Thanks for your persistence. Glad you found me and delighted to connect. And…no pressure at all…just letting you know that I have loads of Crone books on hand but very few Legacy books. I am hoping to get to Ireland again in August and will be bringing some back with me. Right now Ireland is not shipping to the States. So after these few Legacy books are gone, it’s going to be a bit before I get some. Unless of course you live in Ireland or Europe…and I can get one posted to you from Ireland where the books are stored. Lovely to be connected.

      • Oh hi, thanks for reply. Yes, I do live in Ireland (I sent you another message on your about page) and would love to get one of those copies sent to me if possible. Should I go ahead and order and pay here??? I’ll check back tomorrow to see if you responded. Thanks!

      • Yes. Go ahead and order through the blog. Use the Ireland/Europe button. When the order comes through I will alert the woman staying at the cottage (where the books are) and she will post them to you. And yes. Good to be connected. Perhaps we can see each other when I’m in Ireland….where are you located?

      • Hi, I live in Mayo outside of Foxford. I may even know some people that you do. It’s certainly possibly.

      • Hi, Sorry, but I believe I clicked on the US sales for the book(duh), but I put in Irish address etc. and the price changed to euro, so, it should all work. I just don’t want to mess up your system or something. I hope I paid the right amount that you require. Let me know. Thanks

      • Yes, receipt came through, I did, accidentally click on wrong button. After she sends it up, I’ll pop the difference in an envelope and send it back to her. It’ll be waiting for you when you arrive.

  3. I live in Western Australia and wondering how I could purchase a copy of A Call to Crone. Your email at the top of the page Judith Nilan bounces back and there doesn’t appear to be an option to purchase in Australia. Please let me know how I can get a copy.Regards,
