No man ever steps in the same river twice,
for it’s not the same river
and he’s not the same man.
I’ve written before about an approaching apocalypse and the many prophecies of these times. Many voices of many prophets. And while not prophets, many of us have seen this coming. For our democracy, the apocalypse has landed. I don’t need to go into detail about that. The tsunamic actions of this fascist administration are cashing down around us every day.
We will never again step into the same river of democracy we have known. And yes, there is huge grief around that. But the river is changing and so must we move through our grief and anger and despair to become the people needed in this time. We are the one’s we’ve been waiting for.
Apocalypse. Stepping around the popular and biblical interpretations that focus exclusively on catastrophe, I choose to focus on the original etymology. The Greek word apokálypsis means a revelation and I’ve recently read apocalypse defined as collapse and renewal and lifting the veil. While we are focused on doing what we can to thwart the collapse, it’s equally and perhaps more important that we focus on the renewal. We may not be able to influence the collapse, but we can absolutely influence and shape the renewal.
The seeds of renewal, the seeds of compassion and love, of social and environmental justice, of diversity and equality and inclusivity, and even joy are already in us.
Participate
joyfully
in the sorrows
of the world.
We cannot
cure the world
of sorrows,
but we can
chose to
live in joy.
Joseph
Campbell
When I first read these words by Joseph Campbell, I struggled. Seriously? Participate joyfully in this apocalypse? But that is exactly what we are called to do. Not to be joyful about what’s happening, but to carry our joy into this storm. To shapeshift the storm of our fear and anger into actions of hope and possibility. To hold fast our seeds of renewal that they will flourish.
Renewal will come. The veil will be lifted to reveal a vision for the future shaped by the seeds we hold. The seeds we are.

Yes we will survive this mess. It is all very interesting. Would not have wanted it to happen, but here we are.
Thank you Judith! Astrologically is saying the same and we will have a tearing down so a new heart focused world can emerge! I think the speed of taking apart is startling as well as hard! I’m focusing on the sooner apart the faster we can rebuild. However I am not directly impacted as so many children will not have food or clean water etc and there will be suffering. So holding joy in my heart to spread to others is important. Pam Gregory, astrologer is a wonderful astrologer as well as Spirit filled teacher!

Love this, Judith.
It inspired me to take another look at one of my posts in The Grandmother Stories, and sure enough there it was:
“We have been watching as this culture engaged its people to do three things. First, to accept the inevitability of this coming change. Second, to think differently about the way they lived their daily lives as they prepared to meet this ending. Third, to plant seeds of hope and renewal for the survival of their culture in its aftermath.”
–When Worlds End: Part 4 (episode 27)
I think it is time for me to re-visit and to finish the rest of that story.
Your writing is a balm. Thank you.
